The Andrea Doria was a transatlantic ocean liner, made in Genoa, Italy in 1953. “She” was the largest, fastest Italian ship at the time. Unfortunately on July 25th, 1956 while approaching Nantucket, Massachusetts, the ship sank resulting in the deaths of 46 passengers. 1660 people survived but it remains the worst maritime disaster in US waters since the Eastland capsizing in 1915.
